Serengeti Wilderbeasts Immigration Map
Serengeti National Park was established in Tanzania in 1952. It is home to the largest wildlife scene on earth - the great migration of wild animals and zebras. Residents of the lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, and bird are also impressive. There are a variety of accommodations available, from luxury hostels to mobile camps. With an area of 5700 square miles, (14,763 square kilometers), the park is larger than Connecticut, with just a few hundred vehicles.
The garden can be divided into 3 sections. The southern / central folk part (Seronera Valley) is what the Maasai called "Serenget", the land of endless plains. It's a classic savanna, full of trees and full of wildlife. The western corridor is characterized by the Grumeti River, and has more forests and dense jungles. North, Lobo District, meets the Kenyan Masai Mara Reserve, the least visited area.
Two World Heritage sites and two biosphere reserves were created in an area of 30,000 square kilometers. Its unique ecosystem inspired the book from Ernest Hemingway to Peter Mattesen, filmmakers like Hugo von Lauik and Alan Root as well as many photographers and scientists - many of them put their business at our disposal to create this site.
The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest systems on Earth. The essential features of climate, plants and animals have hardly changed in the past millions of years. The same early man appeared in Olduvai Gorge about two million years ago. Some lifestyles, death, adaptation, and migration are as old as the hills themselves.
It is the migration that Serengeti may be known for. More than a million wild animals and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains in short rains every October and November, then circle west and north after long rains in April, May, and June. Too strong is the old instinct to move so that no river drenched, suffocating, or alligator can hold them back.
Wildebeest travels through a variety of parks, reserves and protected areas and through a variety of habitats. Join us to explore the different forms of plants and landscapes of the Serengeti ecosystem and get to know some of its most fascinating residents.
